Which is better for installing and running Sophos UTM Home: Virtual Machine or Old PC

Hi I am new to this forum. I have heard great things about Sophos UTM Home. I run a home based business and I am considering installing UTM for extra intrusion detection and other features. I would like to know from forum members based on your experience:

1 which is better for SUTM software installation and operation a virtual machine or an  old pc

2. what are a couple of pros and cons with running SUTM on either an old pc or vm
