RED 10 unlock code

Hello,

 

I bought an used RED 10 from eBay. To get the unlock code for the device I followed instructions mentioned in this thread https://community.sophos.com/products/unified-threat-management/f/remote-ethernet-device-red/78094/ebay-red-10-unlock-code .

 

Now I got respond from the support, it is impossible to get an unlock code for a used RED when using home license. Additionally, it is not a good idea to buy an used device because only devices from an authorised reseller are supported. 

 

Is it possible to get the unlock code or do I have to change from sophos?

    Sophos will only give the unlock code to the original reseller or the original purchaser.  This is as a deterrent to theft.  If the eBay seller cannot give you the unlock code, the device is worthless and you should ask for your money back.  There was another post here this month by a Sophos employee confirming that this is the case.
