Interfaces - How many are you using?

Just out of interest, how many interfaces are people using on their UTMS?

We have an some SG310's and we are up at 7 interfaces and are about to invest in the expansion port taking us up to 10 interfaces.

Just curious to see what others are pushing these things to.

  • Louis, I think it just depends on your situation.  If you aren't already using VLANs, you might consider that instead.  Most of my accounts with more than four or five Interface definitions use VLAN switches.  Does your reseller have a suggestion?

  • Hi Bob,

it was purely just out of interest that's all. We use a mix of both as sometimes we just prefer to have a physical separation as opposed to a virtual separation eg dedicate the whole interface for one client rather than share it via a vlan.
Suppose I should have asked if anybody is using an expansion module and how they are getting on with it?

  • We are currently using 7 interfaces on an SG330 HA setup. One of these interfaces is the HA-interface, 2 are external interfaces, the rest is internal.
