Access to externally hosted website blocked by UTM

Everything was working fine until the most recent update to our UTM (it's now using firmware version 9.404-5) Now when I try to browse the company website from any internal device whether connecting through the proxy or not I get this page cannot be found messages. When I connect using a remote device it works fine. The website ip address has not changed and nothing has changed on the internal network. I have set the various profiles to allow access to the domain and all sub domains. Where can I set a bypass for the corporate website?

The website I am trying to connect to is http://www.falklandhouseschool.org and it's ip address is 54.154.135.21

  • Hi Mike,

Is the website hosted in your local network behind UTM?

If the website is not hosted behind UTM and the web protection is configured on Transparent mode; you can simply add the website in the "Skip Transparent Mode Destination Hosts" option found in Web protection> Filter option> Misc.

    Thanks

  • Hi Sachin,

The website is hosted externally from our network therefore traffic needs to pass through the UTM to access it. We are not using transparent mode. After further investigation it appears that it may be due to DNS requests not being passed through the UTM for some reason. If I manually set my DNS server address to 8.8.8.8 I can access the website correctly. If I set my DNS server address to my Windows 2008 DC the requests are blocked.

This was all working fine before the recent Firmware update of the Sophos UTM.
