Home Licensing issues with a bridged connection

I've got a bit of a weird problem regarding bridge mode on UTM 9.

Here's my current home setup:

Router -> VM Host -> Virtual Switch -> UTM 9 VM -> Virtual Switch -> Test VM

Now, there are quite a few VM's with virtual IP's connected to that first virtual switch (over fifty IP's).

Which, in turn, causes the following problem: namely, the licensing in the UTM 9 VM seems to think that it should count EVERY IP on both switches, rather than only the switch connected to the "LAN" side of the bridge.

I've checked the bridge settings in Interfaces, but there doesn't seem to be anything there of use.

Is this expected normal behaviour for a bridged connection?

Please help, and thank you.

  • Hi, and welcome to the UTM Community!

It sounds like everything's working as designed.  Wow, 50+ VMs!  How can you keep track of that - an application?

    Cheers - Bob

  • Hi, and thanks!

It's actually only 6 VM's with a bunch of IP's between them - mainly for testing random stuff.

However, I was hoping that an inline Sophos bridge would only recognize IP's from the "LAN" side of the bridge, as there's only 1 VM with 2 IP's behind them. I wanted to test out the "Country Blocking" (as well as a few more things), but don't really want to run afoul of licensing issues.

    Thanks for responding though!
