Whatsapp calls blocked on wifi

Hi All,

Whatsapp calls are blocked on my network, Sophos UTM 9 is my gateway to the internet, i am using it in transparent mode, and i am opening any service from the internal network to any destination. I tried to open ports mentioned in other threads but the issue still not solved.

also i opened the ports blocked based on the log and each time a new port is blocked.

Please help me to solve this issue!

Thanks

  • Hi,

Thanks for the logs. Can you also check Intrusion Prevention, http and  logs. Is you internal network (192.128.132.0) ?

Which Web Protection mode is configured on UTM (Transparent or Standard) ? Are you able to make a call skipping the source IP in  Web Protection> Filter option > Misc> Transparent mode skip>skip transparent mode source.

    Please provide all the inputs.

  • Hi,

yes my internal network 192.128.132.0, and below the Intrusion prevention screenshot :

    the transparent mode is configured:

I tried to do a call, still same problem and no logs in the intrusion logs.

  • Enable the following ports (outgoing) from Internal LAN to Internet IPv4:

    UDP port 3478
    TCP port 5222
    TCP port 5223

I believe that should be enough, since at over here WhatsApp calls do work.

BTW, I see you're using subnet 192.128.132.0/24. This falls in the publicly owned range of 192.128.0.0/16 which is assigned to AT&T in the US. For your own use it's better to stick to RFC1918 (private networks) since these cannot interfere with publicly registered ranges.

See this wikipedia page for more information or simply change to 192.168.132.0/24.
