UTM 9.4 STAS

Hello Everybody.

New version 9.4 came out and on the new feature list there was the Sophos Transparent Authentication Suite.

As far as i can tell this new feature allows me to create and manage my network - User Based.

meaning in addition to the simple SSO and installation capabilities i am able to create user based firewall rules and QOS based on specific users? (similar to XG)

if anyone can add some Detailed information about the advantages of STAS i would be grateful.

    Correct.

    Without STAS the only place where you could transparently authenticate users (SSO) with AD was Web Filtering module.

    With STAS you can use user objects also in other modules, like in Firewall, QoS, Application control rules etc, which was not possible before unless with installing Sophos Authenticator Agent (SAA) on the clients. This feature was ported from Cyberoam UTM, and was known as Layer 8 (user based) filtering.
