hello, first time poster here. I installed the latest utm 9x OS on a small pc a Jetway Intel Celeron N2930 Quad Core Dual gig Intel LAN. The cpu was a Intel Celeron N2930 1.83 - 2.16GHz Quad Core. memory was 8 gigs and SSD was a 60 gig drive the system had dual intel gigabit lan adapters. The unit performed usually at cpu hovering around 15-20% and memory constantly around 2 of the 8 gigs used. My question is regarding home use and high latency in gaming. I know its not the ideal platform for this but having a 12 year old who enjoys playing on steam (when not studying) we found the latency with sophos in use was to great for any online play. Disabling web filtering and IPS seemed to help slightly but it was sporadic with these settings turned off and i had pruned back IPS to 6 months and unselected any systems that i did not have in use to avoid any excess IPS policies . Normal latency hovered around 60-80 using a traditional asus router with the asusmerlin wrt based firmware running on it. moving back to the system running sophos i saw latency jump as high as 12,000 and higher. Obviously not good for any entertainment purposes. So is the small system i had for sophos way too under powered (cpu wise) and internal bandwidth? I have since shelved the sophos and returned the jetway system but I'm curious is this a pipe dream having a system powered like the sophos utm with most of the features enabled and having a happy family? thanks. doug
