UTM 100 telling that it's a ASG120, licensing

I bought an UTM 100 with Basic Guard. It is said, that the upstream has a limit of 2 MBit on a UTM100.

When I login into the GUI, the device identify itself with ASG120 and I don't feel that it's limited.

Now I need to renew my license. Do I buy UTM100 license or ASG120 license?

The firewall worked flawless with a UTM120 test license and provided the same real life speed as the active license.

  • As I stated, the hardware is the same between the UTM120, 110, and 100.  You are currently licensed as a UTM100.  Please re-read my post.

  • Thank you Bruce for taking your time. And I apologize if my questions sound confusing. But:

My UTM100/110/120 box is running a UTM100 setup with a UTM100 license exposing itself with ASG120 and not showing the expected 2 Mbit upstream limitation of a UTM100 license. The device is accepting a UTM120 test-license fine as well.

I understand that UTM100/110/120 is the same hardware and that I ought to install the license according to the "hardware license". Play safe.

If I want to use a UTM120 license, do I need to update anything or can I simply buy a UTM120 license and my device will behave with all UTM120 features?

  • You can upgrade your license in the MyUTM portal to whatever you'd like, then purchase a renewal.  You'll want to contact your reseller regarding this process -- as a mistake there can be irreversible.

To be honest, if you were my customer, we'd be discussing an upgrade to a SG-level appliance, as the older UTM appliances are kind of slow with newer firmware (and won't be portable to XG when it matures).
