Sophos UTM SG Web Application filter

Dear Community

hi , I have a lot of problem with web application filter , that I don't deny an application however all application is blocked , then I enable the application and allow some application from application control in web protection but the same

I have 2 cases like that , what I noticed support solve one case he added the REgex domain to the allowed web sites , but this way is not proper for CST that if I want to enable application I added it in web application allowed wen sites even not in application filter

do you think we can find another way for that stuff

With the same case Application filter problem , I just want to add one more note: about application control

 

I've blocked the YouTube application using Sophos UTM's Application Control. This generally works correctly until I visit youtube via the google web cache. In Firefox, this seems to open up access to youtube, even on the normal youtube domain (not google web cache). Other browsers are semi-blocked but I've also managed to play videos in other browsers as well. It is inconsistent and I'm wondering if anyone else can reproduce this?

  • Hi, and welcome to the UTM Community!

    I'm a little confused by your explanation. Application Control and Web Filtering are parts of the Web Protection subscription, but they are separate.  They don't work together anymore then the proxy and Intrusion Prevention work together. They are both part of a multi layer security device.  Perhaps you could insert pictures of the configuration made by the Sophos engineer and say what problem it fixed.

    Two different Question ; first one again that some application is blocked by defulat like Skype Google drive Skype for business , how ever no web application filter denied them also created application filter policy to allow them however no need for that but still blocked

    Second question

    When you deny for example steaming category or youtube app you can override the policy by opening YouTube from Google cashe from Firefox browser
