Final shutdown and removal of Astaro.org

Hi All,

The time has come to shutdown the https://astaro.org site.  With the migration of the forums and threads to the Sophos Community complete and the Astaro site in a static read-only mode I wanted to post and let you know what's happening next.

Having initially posted to the moderator's board (hidden to most) about the plan and to get feedback I don't see anything that blocks shutting down the site.  Therefore we plan to take the Astaro.org site offline on January 20th (one week from today as of writing) and redirect forum links on that site to the corresponding forum here.

I'd like to thank all members of the UTM group for their patience while waiting for the migration to complete - moving several hundred thousand posts was no small task.

  • Another way to send away followers to move to another product. Astaro.org = UTM, Community = XG.

    They are destroing what a good product was and still is UTM. Now, astaro.org (bye bye).

    On this community Sophos appears only when they need to communicate some decisions and not to share them. No way. At the end of this Year, I would like to know how many people have moved to another product and Sophos reveneu at the same time. Sophos UTM is still sold because Astaro followers keep their information and share them (very difficult in this community).

    This make me cry!

    Have a look at XG: People from Sophos are not there from months already and they will retire UTM soon. Anyway Sophos will return to sell Endpoint and Email filtering again.
    Astaro.org was the best community that I found in my IT life since today. Easy to read, follow and nice people.
    Here even simple options are missing:
    Pages, Fixed Tags, who viewed your profile and so on.
    I really really miss UTM time and astaro.org too.

    It is happening right now, people are already discussing about it and asking for advice about replacing Sophos UTM with a different solution.

    In my opinion, shutting down old astaro.org forum and releasing XG Firewall in the same week on November 2015 cannot be a coincidence.


    Back to the topic...this forum don't deserve even BETA status, it should be declared as ALPHA pre-release.
