7.305: smtpd process is using 23% memory

Hello,

we are running a ASG 7.305 here. That box is basically only doing firewalling, we dont send/receive mails by that box.

If I have a look at the hardware graph, I can clearly see that the memory consumption is increasing over a couple of weeks. When I login by SSH to that box, I see the process smtpd running using 22.9% memory.

Did anybody else experience a similar problem?

Is the system configured to send you any administrative email? Backups, notifications, etc.? If so, are you receiving email from the Astaro?

Hello,

thanks for coming back.

The system is sending a daily status email and a weekly backup email. Thats all.

Are you using IM/P2P controls? If so, check the logs and see if you are getting any false positives stopping SMTP (which would hang connections open) or DNS (or anythings else interesting).
