cannot login to the webadmin interface

this just started happening about an hour ago.

while trying to log into the webadmin interface, i get an "invalid username or password" error.

i've tried rebooting the VM, as well as powering if off and back on.

i followed the directions to resetting the admin password, as illustrated on this page, Fastvue Sophos Reporter How to Reset Sophos UTM Passwords (WebAdmin, Root and Loginuser), which was completed successfully, but I am not having any luck with logging into the system.

i can login to the user portal, but i don't know why the webadmin admin/*password* combo wont work.

Just to double check, you are suffixing the port number to the address of your UTM for your webadmin, default is :4444.

Edit: I've just noticed you said you could log in to admin on the User portal. My apologies, that is pretty odd

i can login to the user portal using a regular user account, but not the admin account.

the admin account wont work anywhere (maybe that is policy with the user portal; i'm not sure.)

the real issue is having the admin account being locked out of the webadmin login page, and yes, i am using port 4444.

resolved, but it was a pain.

i had to go in through the console and restore an older backup. that managed to fix things.
