UTM9 odd CPU spikes...

Can anyone explain why my CPU is spiking like this? it just started and my box is not getting hit hard with anything. Not a lot of traffic moving on my box and even when it was getting hit hard yesterday while I was doing some stuff, the CPU peaked at 11% yesterday. Now I have this. Is this possibly a bad CPU?

    You run email  security on this machine?

    I have the same here for some days, it's caused by cssd process

    I do not run email security on this machine. This is a home box and I don't have an exchange/email server setup internally. It's basically just setup for protecting against DDoS and country blocking. Nothing fancy.

    Might be related to a bad IPS signature.  Disable IPS (and maybe ATP) and see if it clears up.  Then turn them back on.

    Turned both off, and my CPU went back down to 2-3% under normal load. Left it that way for about 20ish minutes and turned them back on. It's starting to climb again. Is there anyway to force a new IPS signature or clear the old one?

    I don't know the answer to that one unfortunately.  They are aware of the issue and I would expect a "fix" soon-ish.

    Hi, rev3la7ion, and welcome to the User BB!

    Guys, given the pattern, I can't help but wonder whether this is related to the pattern update process.  What happens if you set 'Pattern Download/Installation Interval' to "Manual' on the 'Configuration' tab of 'Management >> Up2Date'?

    If that fixes it, then I would be tempted to burn a new ISO at 4x or less, install and restore a configuration backup.

    First, try the PS in this post.

    Next, since this is a new setup with little history in Reporting, try /etc/init.d/postgresql92 rebuild

    Please let us know what finally fixes the problem.

    Darrell, can you link us to something about the problem you're describing with an IPS pattern?
