Hi All,
I'm having a strange issue and was curious if anyone else had seen it before or if it was a bug.
Background:
VMWare ESXi 6.0 environment
Sophos UTM VM has two nics, one for WAN one for LAN
Was working fine until two days ago
CPU usage starts at ~1% @ 12AM, and increases up to ~50% by 11:59PM
I recently made a few changes (added a SSL VPN server) but after noticing this issue, reverted the changes. However the problem still occurs.
Here's the proof:
I've exported my configuration and reinstalled to a new VM and upon import- experience the same problem, so it is clearly a configuration issue (or bug)
I've powered on the original VM with no nics attached- however CPU usage is still high, so it doesn't appear to be an issue with incoming or outgoing connection counts or anything like that.
I'm out of ideas. Anyone? It doesn't appear to be killing performance or anything, just annoying and wasting power.
EDIT: Forgot to add what process was sucking up the CPU: ipsfb (uses about 85% cpu, then drops down to 0% every 30 seconds or so)
