Multipath Rule Youtube/Googlevideo

Hey,

i have a fine working setup with uplink balancing, and some multipath rules.

But my problem is, that i want youtube and googlevideo traffic using my 2nd WAN.

But Youtube still use WAN1.

Whats Wrong?

Setup:
1 Any(or Internal1) - Any - YoutubeDNSgroup-WAN2   Not working
2 Wlan -any-any-WAN2-                      Working
3 Internal2 -any-any- WAN2 -               Working
4 Internal1 -any-any- WAN1 -               Working

Hi, and welcome to the User BB!

I don't think there's a way to accomplish this. The DNS group for youtube.com probably just contains the session managers and maybe the web servers, but not the content servers. Even then, you can't know which Akamai IPs you need to include.

What problem are you having that made you want to try this solution?

Hey, thanks for your answer.

The main reason is that Wan1 is just a "slow" line and the second is a faster line.
and and Googlevideo, Youtube, apple.com are creating the most traffic.

so my thought was to routethem to the faster line and have more speed for the other "more important things"

i could use a solution like this to circumvent geolock by using Multipath on my UTM Red that sits on a vServer in another country [:)]

i dont know how akami work exactly, but is it possible to use ports or host/dns group from akami to route?.

in this case the complete content using akami would change wan but thats OK too.

just one question: Is it possible to do a Multipathing with quota? [:)]
So if I reach 20GB on eth1 disable this line?

I don't think you can DarkKnight, although I see how some people would benefit from this.

We are also in the need to restrict multipathing rules to certain destinations. In our case, we need to upload youtube videos through a much faster WAN. There is a feature request here, vote for it: Networking: Multipath WAN rules by Application
