Log disk full 100%

I check my log disk and full of 210 GB, and I see log files for Kernel messages use 202 GB.

I have 3 treshold,

Threshold Three
When usage reaches 70 %, delete old log.

How to solve my problem? can i clear my kernel log messages?

  • What caused you to have 202GB of kernel messages?

That problem may be worth addressing.  Consider the options of selective deletion (or selective retention), compression and moving the logs off box for analysis.

What are your support options/obligations?  (Home user, essentials, reseller or premium support)
  • Was anything ever figured out?  I have a new Zotac box that I've put Sophos home on and it works great except that the kernel messages are filling up the 50 gb partition in a matter of hours every time I clear it.

I pull up the live log but nothing really shows so I'm not sure what it is that's filling it up...

  • Spoke too soon I guess it was just taking the live log a long time to come up...  Now I see this scrolling by many times a second:

kernel: [22081.766xxx] mmc0: got irq while runtime suspended

Any thoughts on this?  One thing I noticed is that I loaded the 32 bit kernel instead of 64 - thinking of doing a backup and restoring after rebuilding on 64.  Oddly I have 4 gb of ram but am only seeing 2 gb listed - shouldn't 32 bit still use close to 4gb?
