I asked a hardware and install related question a yesterday and, based on the crummy answers, decided this forum is a waste of time. There's nothing more infuriating than being scolded by a couple of wonks who feel outraged because, in this case, more than 1 question was asked in, heaven forfend, the wrong topic. Then, some moderator closed the thread so the last word came from a scold who gave less than half effort at being helpful.
I noticed a thread a little later concerting a NAS. He received some help but decided to go back to untangle, one of my other choices to consider. I will also have this same NAS problem later, so it's nice to know someone with more experience than me also had difficulties. I found some help using google for ooma, but basic port forwarding for my slingbox is still quite vague. Currently, with DD-WRT I can just open UPnP, let everything configure, then turn off UPnP and everything stays configured and I'm safe because UPnP is off.
I got this far with youtube, the pdf manual, and google and won't waste any more time here. If I get stumped, there are other software routers to pick from and all offer free versions. The support here stinks and the scolding for 'infractions' is good for telling people to 'go away'.
Feel free to close this thread, also.
