Two NICs different subnet

Hi, I am trying to setup my sophos utm router running on my custom server with four NICs to be behind a router. On NIC 1 I have it connected to verizon fios router with a static IP address with the IP address 192.168.1.2/24. On NIC 2 I have it connected to an HP switch and that NIC has IP address 192.168.3.1 and I have setup DHCP on that NIC as well.
I thought sophos would automatically handle the connection between the two subnets, but it doesn't seem to be the case. I can't ping from NIC 1 to NIC 2 and vice versa. How can I have both NICs talk to each other even though they are on different subnets?

Here is additional configuration info:
NIC 1 (WAN)
Type: Ethernet
IP address: 192.168.1.2/24

NIC 2 (LAN)
Type: Ethernet
IP address: 192.168.3.1/24
DHCP Range: 192.168.3.20 - 192.168.3.40

Everything is currently off in the Sopho UTM except for the firewall, but there are no rules set in the firewall.

Any ideas on how I can have both NICs communicate with each other? Thank you in advanced.

    So I created several firewall entries but no communication between the two subnets. Here is how I created my firewall entries:

    Any IPv4 to WAN (IP address, Network, Broadcast)
    WAN (IP address, Network, Broadcast) to IPv4

    LAN (IP address, Network, Broadcast) to WAN (IP address, Network, Broadcast)
    WAN (IP address, Network, Broadcast) to LAN (IP address, Network, Broadcast)

    Do I have to restart the box? I have turned on the firewall entries, but still no connection between the two subnets. I don't know what else I can do.
