dns redudancy

so i have two windows 2012 r2 servers that act as my AD and DNS servers

10.10.10.63
10.10.10.64

I point all the computers in my office to them via DHCP. However in the event of an power outage or some other incident if both servers are out the entire office loses effective use of the web.


is there a way to have the router fail over to something like googles 8.8.8.8 or even have more than just two dns servers in dhcp?

I have two "DNS Forwarders" in the router (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4) but im not sure how to stcuture it that even if the dns servers are off line that it will still resovle using the external dns

    The UTM itself will use whatever you've set as forwarders.  You mention that you already have google dns set.

    Two is it.  You could try adding a third via DHCP option 6, but using that may overwrite the DNS servers set via parameter, leaving you with one instead of three.  You will need to test and see if it'll work.
