slow download speed over openvpn

I have private internet access installed on a laptop for using bittorrent. I have the UDP port 1193 open since that's when my VPN client uses and my upload speed is perfect but my download speed is extremely slow. does anybody know what's going on and if I need to check logs which ones would they be and what should I look for.

You should add exceptions for port 1193/udp in your case to keep from doing any scanning on that traffic. Since the UTM cannot decrypt and inspect the packets anyway, it just puts extra load on it.
