Don't know if I can do this

Ok I know it is a bad idea to have firewall and file server in one box so I scrapped that. Now I just want to have Sophos UTM Home Edition to do what it does best. I did some research and ended up with Sophos instead of others but my concern is how long do I need to get it up and working. I am not technical (hence my stupid idea about firewall/file server) but willing to learn albeit a slow learning curve.

I have a dedicated Acer Veriton 5900Pro x64 dual core, 80GB SATA HDD, 3 NICs and 8GB RAM for this project. My wife thinks I will never get it off the ground. I think I can with help from folks in this forum.

    Download the software ISO and burn it to a CD at 4x or slower.  Boot your Acer with that in place and you should be connected within 10 minutes.

    If you've been using a wireless router (Linksys, Netgear or the like), you will want to turn it into a wireless switch behind the UTM by disabling its DHCP, taping over the WAN port and connecting one of its LAN ports to the Internal interface of the UTM.  Configure DHCP in the UTM for your Internal network.

    Your experience will be better if you have a public IP on the External interface, so you might want to find out how to bridge your modem if that wasn't done already.
