nsslabs testings on sophos

Hi all,

Did anybody ever discussed these test results here??

I know its not crazy new stuff and i couldn't get my hands on the FULL sophos product report from the same lab without putting some cash on the table, which makes me suddenly suspicious...

Though i found it strange that in my researches i didn't came across any Sophos explanations about this, i would have expected at least something like.. Our settings by default allows this for this and that reasons, though, if these behaviors are not what you want/need we'll advise you to click here and enable this and that functions in our software. Which will provide you with the desired results.

Or an honest; we acknowledged the issue tested by nsslabs and reported in their test results and we therefore provided our bellowed customers with a patch for our former released software. Also, every  further Sophos UTM releases are exempt of these findings threats.

I might be out on clues on that one though.

    Hi there Bob,

    Do you mean that they conducted these testings with "Use strict TCP session handling" turned OFF (which is the UTM default) ??

    I went and read the report. There is nothing in the report about how each device is configured.
    I would suspect they did the test with spoof protection turned off which makes there testing regime worthless or maybe trying to sell some products and showing in their testing that the cheaper ones are not as good?

    Food for thought on half baked test results like that, what are the motives from such shabby testing?
