New to Sophos UTM

i downloaded a copy of sophos UTM, i am running it on a Dell Optiplex 755 SFF, 3.0 core 2 duo, 8 gigs of memory and 1tb sata drive
WAN- Comcast built in relatek
LAN- Intel gig

All the interfaces are up and running i can log in but i am unable to resolve DNS, I am using the ISP DNS 75.75.75.76 and 75.75.75.75.

I have gone to the fwd and setup dns 4.2.2.2. and 8.8.8. and open dns, I am still unable to pass traffic, i have even tried putting them in as a sttic on the endpoint and no luck, do i need a FW rule to start off, cant find anything int he admin guide...Can any one please help.

It is important to distinguish if the problem is that clients can't resolve DNS and/or the UTM can't.

UTM: WebAdmin->Support->Tools->DNS lookup to confirm the UTM can resolve.
Clients: If not using the UTM for DNS you will need firewall rules. If using the UTM make sure the client addresses are in the allowed networks for DNS.

Livelogs can be useful (raw logs from the CLI even more so) when troubleshooting problems.

In general, you need rules to pass traffic.
