Anyone know of any tool that export /imports or does everyone who migrate start from scratch? replacing our old pix and vpn concentrator with the 220's.
The genius of the UTM is in WebAdmin. It's a GUI that uses a high-level, conceptual configuration to create the complex line-by-line commands similar to those you know from the Cisco products. I suggest that you start with someone that understands the UTM and knows how to design your initial configuration. I make a lot more money fixing installations than I do creating easy-to-administer configurations initially.
I don't know what the official stance from support would be on a command-line configured system - they might say "no" on principle.
With that said:
It not impossible to configure most, if not all, of the UTM from the command line - which means it is scriptable.
I have found no public documentation (and I have no access to any official/private documentation) on the subject (cc, aka confd-client.plx) which makes the learning curve steeper.
(It is conceivable, to me, that some individuals or resellers might have private tools to help with the mass generation or import/export of rulesets.)
I generally find a learning curve preferable to repeatedly clicking through GUI encumbered processes. Sometimes the expedient choice is monotony.
