UTM 5 Minute CPU Load is around 4, plus other strange issues

We monitor one our UTMs with Nagios. One of our UTMs has had a CPU load of around 4 consistently. When the load is this high we cannot even get into the web admin page. I am able to SSH into the UTM, but a lot of the commands do not seem to work. For example when I want to use the 'top' command it returns this error message:

-bash: /usr/bin/top: Input/output error

I have used 'top' on our other UTMs, so I know it is a supported command. Another strange thing is the wireless does not work when all this is happening. If the UTM is rebooted, it will run normal for a bit, then the load goes up and it starts all over again. Anyone seen something like this before?

Sounds like the hard drive is having problems if you're seeing I/O errors. If you can manage to get "dmesg" to show you output, it might offer some insight as to what isn't working right.
