Google Safe Search Broken

Just wondering out loud
With the changes to Google
1.       Google has changed all Searches to “https”
2.       Google  redirects now to httpS://www.google.com
3.       Schools use edge Content filtering  – This searches http search requests.
4.       Children now have full access to look at “bad” images at Google. (Browser sets up SSL session)
5.       The Google advice is to redirect google.com to Google
6.       So no real filtering.

Has anybody done any real testing?
How is Sophos UTM going to handle this change?

    I'm running Sophos UTM at home and am not scanning HTTPS (yet), but do have "safe search" enabled in Web Filtering (transparent). When I search google, it displays a little message that says "SSL search is off. This network has turned off SSL search, so you cannot see personalized results. The security features of SSL search are not available. Content filtering may be in place. Learn More | Dismiss".

    Unless I'm forgetting, I never did anything to get this to happen other than enabling "safe search". Maybe I ticked something in other settings somewhere and forgot...
