SOPHOS UTM Appliance for Home Use

I am Thinking of buying a SOPHOS UTM 110/120 for HOME USE

The Reasons I buy the SOPHOS UTM Appliance is as follow and lets discuss to see if it makes sense.

1) Dual WAN PORT (Most Micro Computers such as Fit-PC is at most 2 ports)
I need the Dual Wan Port to learn the Local Balancing and Fail Over of the WANs.

2) Hardware Compatibility (My Fit-PC used to work in the 8.x but somehow 9.x the installation fails badly with those Linux errors that is beyond my knowledge)

3) Performance - My own HP Server Pentium 4 HT 3GHz / Fit-PC (Atom 2Ghz) seems to have Performance issues but I wonder why those 110 and 120 which seems lower end hardware than mine - seems acceptable in the business world - I can only assume they do perform better?

4) USB Stick Installation which is a feature of this SOPHOS UTM and can only learn how it works by having it.

I know overseas mainly US - people can easily buy 2nd hand appliance from Amazon, e-bay etc at very cheap prices but it is not so straight forward in Asia countries and the shipment is expensive.

So will Local SOPHOS Resellers bother to sell me just the appliance?

It seems to be a situation of willing to pay also hard to buy.

100% Sure that if I buy a Appliance - I definitely can apply HOME License to it right?

    I can't speak to the Fit-PC but I can understand why you be having performance issues with that HP server. That P4 CPU is the last of the NetBurst architecture which is outclassed by even the lowest end modern CPU.

    The reason we ran 120's in several of our offices was simple. $$$/User. Appliance Licenses don't count users so for our user count at each site, the 120's cost per protected user was half what we'd pay for a software license to protect the same IP count.

    You certainly can, I'm just not sure why you'd want to buy an Atom based 120 or a Celeron based 220 when for the same price point you can build an i3/i5 or even an i7 that will run rings around a 220.[:S]

    forget the rtc issue.
    I just built a new UTM using a intel server board s1200kp, i3-3220t, 4gb ram and an intel 128gb ssd. Lots of features including wifi, usb wireless backup link and it idles at 21 watts.
    I bought as an experiment, which sort of failed a new 1150 chip motherboard and had to add an extra intel card to get it to work. It has 8gb ram, i3-4130 because that was all I could buy, 120gb ssd (left over from MAC upgrade) and an intel NIC in the expansion slot, idles around 30w from memory. Really wanted a i3-4130t, not available in Australia. Why this card, had dual NICs onboard, but only one is recognised by the UTM install package. z87i-wifi.
