UTM 9.1 Software Appliace

Hello,

The link below show the throughput levels of all the Hardware appliances.  I have been unable to locate any documentation on the software appliance.  Does any one know where this is or what the throughput values are?

    Hi Brian,

    Throughput levels are not published for the software appliance because results will depend on the hardware you load the appliance into. You can run the software on anything from an Intel Atom, which approximates a 120 in performance, to multi-socket Xeon's which will make a 625 look slow.

    Hi, one user posted a while back that he was getting over 500mbps (with multiple client-server connections) through the IPS from his LAN to DMZ, on a Xeon server with Intel or Broadcom NICs.
    (a single connection is going to be limited by the fact that a single IPS process can only use one CPU/core. multiple connections can be processed on multiple CPUs/cores)

    If needed, higher performance can be achieved by creating IPS exceptions or disabling the IPS.

    If you need more advice, please specify:
    1. connection bandwidth and/or DMZ or multi-LAN bandwidth needed
    2. # of users
    3. features needed (HTTP proxy (with SSL?), Anti-Virus (single or dual scan), IPS, VPNs (which ones), etc)
    4. if over 100mbps needed, specify for which protocols (http, ftp, SMB, etc)
