Ran out of IPs on DHCP

We have been testing about 50 new computers and they have exhausted all of my available IPs in my pool.

Is there a way to scavenge unused IPs to add them back into the pool?

    How big is your pool?  Have you considered testing without assigning a default gateway?

    have about 100, what is usually enough for an office of about 30, but they are testing the connectivity of a bunch of computers and hooking up to the internal network

    One of my customers had a similar issue.  He had insisted on a software version initially.  After he kept running into this issue, at his first renewal, he got the 120 that I had recommended originally.  The annual subscription is about half that for a 100-IP license.

    Sometimes we recommend appliances and sometimes we recommend the software version on other hardware.  Your reseller should be able to help you evaluate your best choice.

    Hi ,

    Long ago there was a way to clean the ip listed on the counter with a cc command , I used it few times , but it was in earlier versions.
    I don't know if that's still working and if it possible now.
    I can try to find the command again for you.

    I have an appliance. Its not a licensing problem. 
    Its just there is no new IP's for people joining the network, until the test boxes don't renew their DHCP leases

    I made a new network with 250 IPs for them to test with, hopefully the problem will fix it self in 24h

    Note this will not solve the problem if your DHCP pool is too small; you'll need to expand it.

    OK guess I'll wait, its a fluke for that many computers to request leases. Might need to move the printers to lower IPs to expand the pool.

    iirc, the dhcp leases last a week or more.

    You could try deleting the pool and creating a new one; that _might_ help.

    Sorry about the misunderstanding - I saw "100" and my brain skipped everything else! [:O]

    Sounds like a justification for a separate "lab" interface with a DHCP server that has a short lease time, like 600 seconds instead of a day.
