Max Download speed on Home license

Hi,

Can any one tell me if there is a maximum download speed on the External interface for the home license?

My reason for asking is I have recently upgraded my internet connection to FTTC(basically Fibre PPPoE), this has a line sync speed of 52Mbps and I can achieve this with a laptop plugged directly into the ISP supplied modem. However speedtests from clients within the LAN seem to top out at around 21Mbps. I've switched off IPS, QOS and Web filtering\proxy, but the max speed doesn't change. 

I've had a google and a search of these forums, but haven't been able to find any specific information. Before I start tearing my network apart to find the answer it would be good to hear if there is a cap.

    Hi,

    The home use license doesn't have any sort of cap on speeds, just a 32000 simultaneous connection limit which should only be hit in home use if you do a lot of P2P.

    Thanks for the prompt answer, no P2P going on so that shouldn't be the issue. If anyone has any ideas or has seen similar behavior before then please let me know!

    I tested the home edition within my network with an internal and external interface.  With IPS off, I was pretty much at 1Gbps between my NAS and my SSD equipped laptop, so no visible limitation bandwidth wise with the home edition.

    I have been having throughput trouble from a cable WAN connection at 180 Mb/sec down and 30 Mb/sec up. With no services enabled, throughput is normal. However, when IPS is enabled, a single stream LAN client is limited to approximately 90 Mb/sec.

    This may not apply to your situation as your decrease seems to be occurring at baseline. I would be absolutely certain that everything is truly turned off for your baseline assessment, or you may be fooled by the impact of a running service. Check the Dashboard to be certain.

    Are you going through any other hardware to your LAN clients that you are not going through with the direct laptop to modem test? Do you have another device that could have QOS or any bandwidth limiting functions enabled?

    Thanks for the responses everyone. It's clearly either an issue with some physical hardware or with the VM itself. Time to start pulling things apart I guess!

    wich OS does your VM run at? ExSI or  windows, linux?
    you should try to run some tests from another VM(first case), or the host machine(if possible), and see if there's any difference.
    also make sure the host-OS makes minimal use of the physical hardware, this can slow down  VM Performance too.
    my issue with Astaro/UTM was the disk I/O(lots of read/write traffic from and to the harddrive, coming from my Astaro/UTM-VM

    You should also check your MTU setting to be certain that it correct for your new fiber connection.

    Which NIC drivers are you using in the VM? 
    The default ones in the VMWare image tend to have problems.
