IPS causing poor performance

Issue:  IPS turned on causes network traffic to be slow when routing to different vlans.  When its turned off, everything moves along smoothly, ping times and file transfers are very fast.

Any ideas on what I can do.

    The IPS WILL slow down traffic, but please define how slow it is.

    Also, what is your CPU?

    I get about 50mbps through my Atom firewall with the IPS on. Other users have reported 500mbps with a much faster CPU.

    You can always create exceptions for traffic between your LANs if needed.
