IPS causing poor performance

Issue: IPS turned on causes network traffic to be slow when routing to different vlans. When its turned off, everything moves along smoothly, ping times and file transfers are very fast.

Any ideas on what I can do.

Hi,
some more information would be helpful.

1/. what is you IPS configuration - a screenshot would make assistance easier
2/. have you tuned, by removing rules you don't need?
3/. are there any entries in the IPS log indicating packet drop, reject, loss etc?
