BGP on a 120?

Does anyone have any experience with running BGP on a 120?

I'm looking to put a 120 on a 100 Mbit internet line with the sole purpose of handling our BGP routing.

I'd appreciate any feedback regarding possible performance issues.

    A new 120 can handle 1GB/s and more just fine if you only do packet filtering, no IPS or HTTP proxy [:)]
    Depends on your BGP setup. If its not BGP full table, then definetly yes. If its BGP full table, than 2GB of memory is probably to few...

    It would only be handling BGP and nothing else.

    So the constraint would be memory with full routes? The 220 be in the same boat as well then no?

    Don't sure how busy the CPU will be to handle bgp full table for calculation and setup, will probably take longer than on a fast CPU, but once that is setup it should work.

    On the memory size, not sure either if 2GB is enough, I have no access to a BGP full table. In 9.0 there is currently a bug in the MDW with BGP full table, increasing the memory consumption with another 300MB. This is fixed in 9.100, so try 9.100 if you wann setup a test system.

    Otherwise just build your own system a recent CPU and 4GB of memory to be on the safe side...
