ASG v7 Admin problems

Sorry guys, i know this is not supposed to be here but im having a very difficult time getting this to work. I followed the installation to the "T" and i cant seem to get any connection or link light to the admin interface i designated in the install i.e (eth0) ive tried this on 2 other NICs with the same problem. i am using a dell poweredge 750 with default bios settings. somthing that did concern me was the irq assignment to both NICs was the same. Would this have any impact? Many thanks in the future

    Hi, rogue, and welcome to the User BB!

    V7 will go end-of-life this year, so you might want to start with V8.

    There are several possibilities for your current problem.  Try the installation without uploading your license file - you have 30 days to do that after the installation.

    If that doesn't resolve the issue, tell us which NIC you have.

    Hi bob, i resolved that issue and now i face a new one. im running v8 right now and i have comcast residential ... however astaro wont get any ip from the modem .. i have a netgear (wna2000) router that works just fine .. what gives lol. BTW i did my whole setup based off of this video Astaro Training Series - Ep.1 - Installation and Basic Configuration - YouTube

    what do you have the wan setup as?  ethernet or dhcp?

    Comcast likes to register IPs to a specific MAC address.  This is to keep people from plugging in a hub or switch to the modem, then plugging in several devices and pulling multiple WAN IPs.  

    I'd bet that you had the Netgear plugged in first, so the line is currently registered to that MAC address.  You could try power cycling the modem or calling into Comcast support, but it's generally less frustrating to unplug the modem, go watch some TV for a couple of hours, then plug the modem back into and it should work.

    you don't have to wait a couple of hours.  5 minutes tops...i do this all the time with comcast modems(i used to install them as well).  so just unplug the power...plug in astaro..wait a few minutes..plug cmodem power back in..once it stabilizes you are good to go..also residential isn't the only one bound by mac..non-static business get the same treatment.
