Wireless issues

Hello everyone. If this is in the wrong place please move it to the correct one.

I seem to be having an issue with my wireless access. My wireless internet and network access is extremely slow. I have restarted my astaro, cable modem and wireless router. I use a cisco E3200 wireless router for my wireless and have the astaro hand out dhcp and everything. Here lately my wireless is crap but my hardline side is fine. Does anyone have any suggestions. NO configuration has change and I have had this setup for about 5 months now. 

When I try to browse the internet on my macbook pro via wireless it is slow but if I plug it in to the network it is normal. I have even changed out the wireless router thinking that was the problem and its not. It does it still with a linksys wrt54g router. 

Any suggestions or anything I should look at. All help is appreciated.

    If this is a new problem, have you checked out the NIC to which the wireless is connected?

    Could be interference... run a scanner to see if your neighbors are using the same wifi channels, and/or change the channel on your router.
    1 or 11 are normally the recommended choices if 6 is contended.

    Most scanners will show the Signal-to-Noise (S/N) ratio; a low S/N implies interference.

    Also, cordless phones, baby monitors, and microwave ovens can all interfere.
    Changing the channel may or may not help in such cases; if not you may have to take other measures.

    Thanks for the help guys I figured out what the problem was. Apparently I had to reload the firmware on the router. I went to cisco's website and got the latest firmware and just reloaded it since factory default didnt work and now it is working fine. 

    Does anyone know if you can buy an ASG 110 and wireless access point and use a home license with it? Thats what I would really like to do!

    Yes, I believe that is allowed.

    There's been some other threads about the AP's; iirc resellers are required to sell them to home users now.

    Please be aware that the profit on a 110/120 appliance with an AP10 will just cover the reseller's transaction costs, so the only service you should expect is their assistance in exercising the warranty if either device malfunctions.

    so to make sure I understand correctly I can buy an ASG 110 and an AP10 but the warranty will only cover hardware malfunctions only?

    In my mind, the main reason to have an Astaro/Sophos appliance is to eliminate a bunch of issues that might delay resolution of a problem.  I think an apliance makes sense in a business that can use Astaro Support, but much less for a home user.   If a home user buys Intel NICs and puts them in any hardware that's powerful enough, that should be as good as buying a 110/120 appliance.

    Anyway, those are my first thoughts, and I'd be glad to hear an opposing opinion.

    Yeah Balfson I agree but right now I'm runing an IBM eserver "a loud monster" at home and I'm wanting something smaller and quieter. Plus It is an old server and can go out at any second. I know there is one HDD that is bad but I'm not worried about it because I'm going to get the ASG 110
