Vpn works but no servers by name only ip

So I got VPN working but if I type in \ markon-ws4 I get nothing but if I type in \10.10.10.66 I can get on fine


I'm missing something any ideas 

( this is the same case with my red 10 )

    If you have the right information in 'Remote Access >> Advanced', the client picks up the information automatically when you connect to the VPN.

    Then this where I'm at a loss

    If it picks up the DNs server via dhcp 

    And the Dns server IS the router......

    I don't believe that Home Server has a DNS Server.  It's basically for file/media sharing.  SBS does though, but it would need to be turned on and configured.  This would only happen automatically if you went through the DCPromo process.

    If you want the Astaro to do some of the DNS tasks, then you would need to set it up.  Network Services>>DNS.  Set the network allowed to query (such as your VPN Pool), any forwarders (internal on your SBS box and/or external), then if you need the Astaro to resolve your internal machine names itself, you would need to create static records for your machines.

    Keep in mind that this is all for DNS, whose job is resolving FQDN (computer.domain.com) to IPAddress.  If you want to use the single instance NETBios name, that would either be the job of WINS (Astaro does not have a WINS server component) or you can fake it through appending a suffix.
