speed difference v7 to v8

Hi everybody,

I have been trying to see what I can find on the forum about the following,

I have a setup on esx, with 2x CPU @ 2.4Ghz, with 2Gig of ram. When downloading using usenet, i get a constant 6.2MB/s (around 60Mbit). This while the CPU is about 30%

After having done an upgrade to v8.3 I cannot get beyond 5ish MB/s. This is just an upgrade, with identical config. 
I turned on all the security features in v7, but not in v8 (as I said identical config)
After I turn off every single processing in v8 I still cannot seem to get the same performance as I have with version 7.

Is this a known issue? did other people experience the same? 

I have tried the beta, which has the same problem

    Do you have support?  if so start a ticket as virtual drivers seems to be problematic for some users.

    I do not have support as I am a home user,hence I came to the forum to see if this is a common problem or if it is a new thing and perhaps it can be useful to improve Astaro, as I think it's a fantastic suite.

     What i find interesting is the difference with exactly the same settings and same hardware, yet quite different performances

    In my tests virtual performance in 8.3xx isn't as good or stable as 8.2xx

    With ESXi5 I have good results using VMXNET3 NICs instead of the e1000 ones...they perform quite well and rock stable. What are you using?

    I am using the e1000 ones in v7 as well as v8. I will try to see tonight when I get home if I the same performance in v8 using vmxnet3 as when i use the e1000 with v7.

    hi all,

    I have installed the v9 beta, and replaced the e1000 interfaces with vmxnet3 interfaces. I do seem to have the same speed again.

    e1000 do not seem to work as well as the vmxnet3 ones. However, I do still have a fluctiation in speed whereas before it seemed to be more stable.
