upgrading v7 to v8

Hi,
' trying to upgrade a v7.502 box to v8.300.

First off we are looking at changing the server we use for astaro gateway so as a test case we are trying this on a virtual machine connected in HyperV.

The new version is working perfectly on Hyper V but when i've exported setting from the v7 box and try to import them into v8 i get a timeout.

Can anyone tell me if theres a direct update path doing settings this way.

Only thing i can think of is the old settings contains ip addresses of the server and that what makes it fail.

The old server is on 192.168.60.10 and the new one is on 192.168.60.100

Can anyone help as i dont really want to manually reconfigure the new server.

    Update on my issue :

    I've rebooted the virtual machine running v8 and i noticed that the ip had changed so i quickly updated it via the ifconfig command but now the web interface wont show.

    Hi, the interfaces may have gotten reordered; you can run ifconfig on the (virtual) console and check the MAC addresses to see which NIC is which.

    If I remember correctly the updatepath from 7 to 8 was something like 'update to last 7 version, create a backup, install 8.*** and import the backup'. I'm not sure if a direct update from 7.502 is possible/supported - but maybe I go wrong with that.

    The v7 to v8 upgrade is only possible on Astaro Appliances, not virtualized or custom install.

    That's right, Mario, but I think I remember that you can't import a 7.502 backup into V8 - you need at least 7.511 (or maybe 7.513).

    Is that right, or was that only for Appliance upvrades?

    The best thing to do is upgrade to the latest 7.5x version then upgrade to 8.0...make another backup then upgrade to 8.300
