Protected Ips now? When will this end.

Thank Obama.

  • Protect Ip is not about ip addresses....it is the senate version of SOPA.  This has been a good misdirection by the content industry..everyone is freaking out about SOPA and not paying attention to the Protect IP act that is the same thing.

  • This is just bad. The govt has so many other things that they can focus on but lobbying works and this is what is being debated (pun attended). I am not saying that online piracy doesn't hurt the bottom line but the numbers are skewed. Not everyone that downloads something online illegally is going to pay for the same product if they had no choice. Netflix is a prime example of this. Give the people something at a reasonable price and they will pay for it.

    Thank Obama.

Actually O is against it for a change but he was against the defense authorization bill too before he signed it with great reluctance[8-)]
  • Politics as usual... as BillyBob said, they've got more important things to worry about.

  • It seems that one implication of PIPA and SOPA would be that Astaro would be compelled to eliminate the capability here to upload images and supply external links - either that or shut the User BB off completely to avoid liability.  I realize that might sound a bit paranoid, but, in any case, I've already sent emails to my US Rep and two Senators.

  • Yes, it can be "interpreted" and selectively enforced to mean whatever "they" want it to mean ... that's the scariest part of it.

  • It has some other side affects eg countries that have trade agreements with the US are stuck and also have to implement the policy.

Does this mean another DNS structure outside of US control or influence, I think so and countries like China, Russia, Iran etc will already be working on it. Also the the US bill only applies to English DNS entries, maybe....

  • We become a socialist nation of entitlements. Again, it starts  by going after the bad guys but eventually it ends with the Government controlling what we can see. .. or everything.  Even google.com has blacked out in support.
