Astaro Speed Question

Good afternoon, 

I am currently using Astaro Home V8 all a basic setup.

My Machine DL380 G6  10 Gig Ram 3 gig Nics used as an ESX host


I currently have ESX 4.1 Installed.

I have Astaro setup and passing traffic to my home network and i can browse the web with ease.  I have all other functions turned off. No caching no AV, no web filtering of any sorts at all.

After reading through some of the slow speed forms im at a loss.   My internet package is Business Calls internet 10down 1up.   When using my modem and linksys router, I am seeing max speeds through file downloads and through Speedtest.net (I know you guys dont prefer that site)    When I go through the astaro, my Download speeds of large files go from a little over 1MB to about 198K...  I cant seem to figure out why.  

I used Astaro on the same Setup when v7 was out and had no speed issues at all. ( I was just testing that setup at the time and took it down as I didnt need it). Now my kids are getting laptops for christmas and I like the Astaro feature set.   


Has anyone had any major issues with speed coming from V7 to V8?

    nopers.  It is usually something in the set of either the astaro or something with the host and astaro not cooperating.  I have one copy of astaro inside of hyper-v and another i'm getting ready to fire up in KVM.  right now i'm getting native performance from my hyper-v and I've tested it in ESXI without issues.  Give us full details on the host configuration..the exacting details on the vm configuration..let's try to nail down something.

    Right now I'm rebuilding it, i changed the nics from Flexible to VMXNET 3....  to see if that makes a difference and I think it might.. if not ill go try E1000 on the nic settings and let you know .

    Previously, E1000 has given the best speed/compatibility.  Although I haven't tried it yet myself, 8.200+ apparently gives good performance with VMXNET as well.

    Well i tried for several hours last night as a VMware.... 

    I went back to a physical box today and my speeds are where they should be.

    Just to give you a final update.  I have just rebuilt my ESX Host, and configured my firewall, everything is running fine.. I am using 4.1, E1000 for my nic settings and this time, nothing is slow.  I'm going to chalk it up to my ESX Host being goofy.
