autonegotiate

is there a way to check what my wan port has auto-negotiated to.  I trying to trouble shoot a slow connection

    I agree that ethtool can give better information, but on some systems, ethtool will not function and on others, mii-diag will not work. 

    Examples:  On my 8.201 Dell box, with cheap NICS, ethtool will not return data.  Apparently mii-diag doesn't do virtual NICs well, especially VMWare.

    Guess we're both right.  [:)]
