IPv6 Addressing

After waiting some months i now received our /48 IPv6 range.

Now i have a question i haven't found an answer yet:
What is the first usable address for a host in a subnet (f.ex. 2001:1234:1:1::/64)?

Is it:
2001:1234:1:1::

or
2001:1234:1:1::1

I thought i heard somewhere that 2001:1234:1:1:: can be used as a normal host address. I'm able to enter this address for an interface on the ASG (and it works). So i think it is correct, but not 100% sure.

Which one is the correct first address of the subnet??

Use 2001:1234:1:1::1 for the address of the interface, then use Use 2001:1234:1:1::2-FFFF for any client systems.

Now i remember the context of it.

It was a talk of "vanHauser" on the 27C3:

It's interesting to watch anyway.

RFC 6104 (Rogue IPv6 Router Advertisements) is an interesting document about it:

But rougue RA's are a problem anyway, regardless of the IP address.

Easiest way may is to use RA filtering on the switch. But there not that much switches out there which support that. Some more infos about it here:

So, if you have to buy a new switch, make sure it supports RA filtering. You may need it sooner or later.
