AMG 1000 Newbie Questions

Hello all, 

I am new here my name is Bill. The company I work for has a Astaro AMG 1000. 

I am having a devil of a time getting it to work to my expectations. I could use some advise on settings for the anti-spam and anti-virus sections. 

I am getting "Ok" results with what I am doing. I have a couple of outside RBL's set and a couple of phrases set. But for instance I put the word "Casino" in but I still get "Royal Casino" spam? I am also getting TONS of Replica Watch ads.

I am not familiar with the product yet to be able to rattle off all the settings. So maybe if I tell you what I am getting someone can point me in the right direction.

I know we are updated as far as we can go 7.5?? and the patterns are getting updated regularly.

I am getting ******/enlargement, Gambling, watches, handbags, clothing ads.

Please any suggestions?

    Hi Bill,

    Can you please give us some more information about your mail setup (how do mails come in pop3 or smtp, is smtp does your dns record point to the ASG or does your ISP forward it?

    Can you please give us some more insight in your AntiSpam settings, which exceptions you have and so on.

    Than we can take a look at it and make some suggestions.

    First thanks to all (especially Gerr) for offering to help. 

    Yes the AMG 1000 is an older unit from what I understand. When the IT department purchased it I don't think they knew it was going to be obsolete in less than a year. (I was not working in this department at the time)

    We Use a Groupwise SMPT Server for our email. Our Mail comes directly into the Astaro and then out to the SUSE box that runs Groupwise. 

    I have the following RBL listed:

    cbl.abuseat.org
    combined.njabl.org
    zen.spamhaus.org
    bl.spamcop.net
    spam.spamrats.com

    I have heard that having multiple RBL slows traffic down. But I have not experienced a problem.

    I have the following checked:

    Reject invalid HELO / missing RDNS
    Use Greylisting
    Use BATV
    Perform SPF check

    In my experiments the Greylisting has done the most to reduce my spam. Frankly, I am not even sure I understand what the rest is. [:)]

    And has I mentioned, In the expressions list have the following:

    casino
    diet
    ****** (sounds like Niagara!) 
    Replica Watches
    Royal Casino

    The only other section is "Sender Blacklist" I have nothing in there because I am not exactly sure what it is. 

    I am updated to 7.5 (as high as I can go) and the patterns are current. 

    Any tricks, tweeks, help you can provide would be GREAT! I am stuck with this machine for the next year because just before I took over they renewed the contract for something like $2300 bucks! Otherwise I would probably be using something different.
