Astaro ebs1563p-rlp6-asg-110/120 internet security

Hi,

I was considering getting a ASTARO EBS1563P-RLP6-ASG-110/120 INTERNET SECURITY appliance that I found online which doesn't include a power supply.  The product is quiet inexpensive and I was curious how old it is and if it would serve as a decent VPN Firewall for a small home network.  

Also, what type of power supply does this unit use?  Is it something specialty or am I able to pick it up easily online?  Thanks.

    Hi and welcome aboard,
    you would be better of using an old PC where you can install at least 2gb of ram and a second NIC.

    While the ASG 110/120 hardware is low power some of the older units are memory limited eg maximum memory is 512mb.
    If you intend to use the latest version v8 then you will need at least 2gb. An old P4 is good, but they do use a fair bit of power and tend to be noisy.

    There is a long running thread in this forum on low power units that people have successfully installed ASG on.
