Does the Free Home License Key for 7.x work for the V8?

Hello,

I tried to search and read some forum posts on the V8 but could not find a related post.
The question is, I am using the free home version of the Astaro Gateway. Will that same license work for the new V8? If not, what is the page to go to for requesting the new license key for the free home use for V8?   Also, I assume when I run my backup and put my backup files on the USB Thumb drive that the license key is part of that and besides my configuration settings getting restored, the license key also gets restored. 

 I have downloaded the "latest_asg_v8_software.iso"  And just need to get an extra thumb drive for backing up my config / backup files to. 

If I am reading correctly, the Beta testing for V8 is over and that the production release of V8 has been released and is the latest_asg_v8_software.iso.

    Astaro did introduce a new license earlier last year. The beta for 8.0 has been over for a long time. You probably are confusing it with the 8.1 beta. You can get more information about the license from the readme file at http://ftp.astaro.com/ASG/v8/NEW_LICENSE_README.txt 
    For running version 8 software you need to use a license according to the
    new license model introduced in April 2010. You can identify whether your
    license file is of old or new model by checking the  "LicenseMode"  entry
    within your license file:

      "LicenseMode = classic"  : old license
      "LicenseMode = ondemand" : new license

    You can upgrade an old model license to a new model license free of charge
    via MyAstaro. For this purpose please login to MyAstaro, navigate to 
    "License Management", select the name of the license and click on the button
    "Upgrade to new license model".


    I would install the new license first if needed and then make a backup and then move to v8 and restore. I have never moved from a very old backup of v7 to 8.1 so not sure if there are any caveats but a recent v7 release shouldn't have any problems.
