best practice vlans

hi there,

I have one of these asg 220 appliances and now I want to implement some vlans.
Vlaning is doing fine with the asg but actually I have two interfaces connected to my switch.

eth0: is configured as "ethernet standard"
eth7: is configured as "vlan" with multiple vlans on it

Should I go and configure the Lan on eth0 as a vlan too? And merge these two interfaces?

    Link Aggregation (LA) won't give you the full benefit of both ports. The algorithms that determine which link in the group get's used are good not perfect. Depending on your traffic patterns I've seen numbers (based on two link groups) listing speedups of anywhere from 125% to 175% of the single link rated speed.

    Simple example is if you transfer a file from a server to a client PC. The Aggregation group will only use one of the two links for that connection so you'll never exceed the rated speed of that link.

    Where you will see benefits is in situations like multiple servers being accessed by multiple clients in a larger office. In my head office we have something like 30-40 PC's accessing close to half a dozen servers. The servers and clients are spread out across two 48 port gigabit switches with a two port LA link between the switches. I've tried to balance the loads across both switches so my links are used as much as possible.
