Difference between UTM and IPS troughput?

Hi,

I'm wondering what the difference between UTM and IPS throughput is?

ASG220 for example, lists 280Mbit IPS throuput and 65Mbit UTM troughput.

I also thought UTM = IPS, but now I'm a bit confused. Which Astaro features are UTM related? HTTPS scanning?

    UTM encompasses all of the features of the ASG system; IPS, HTTP content filtering, Mail filtering, VPN, etc.

    When you run the IPS, you may see a slight slowdown from that alone, depending on the speed of the unit (CPU / RAM) versus demand and bandwidth availability.  Also, improperly configuring the IPS (not defining the local networks properly, etc.) can result in worse than normal results.  If you enable other features (HTTP Content Filtering, etc.), again, depending on demand, etc. that may also add a delay in traffic processing.  If you are looking to purchase a unit, contact a reseller; we have tools, and know what questions to ask, that will help determine what the best fit for your particular environment will be.
