DHCP Options - When?

The ability to set extra DHCP options has been requested for a long time, (at least 4-5 years) and this feature request is currently ranked #3 overall on the feature request site.

Is there any ETA when this will be completed so that we can stop using Windows for DHCP?  It would be appreciated by a lot of people.

    I just put 3 votes on it yesterday..

    I would really like that feature as well because it would mean I dont have to use dhcp relay in other to get our OS Deployment to work..

    So anyone who wants this.. vote :-)

    Having control of the options are very important when providing/dealing with DHCP.

    As much as I would like to have something like this in astaro, I like to keep my firewall / internet access separate from my internal clients and keep single points of failure to a minimum. The generic dhcp serves most of the needs for simple tasks and for complicated deployments there is always a server running somewhere that can provide dhcp (domain controller etc).

    The reason I say this is because its one thing that your internet is down for some reason while your firewall is out of commission but now any person turning on their workstation would be isolated from the network if astaro is not online. Thats why relying on astaro for internal DNS or DHCP will bring you headache sooner than later. I am not arguing against such functionality, just stating that  I personally do not like that kind of single point of failure.

    Same can be true if your other DHCP server is broken as well.

    We're using redundant Astaro in failover config.  But not only that, we use the free edition on test networks for QA purposes and DHCP on Astaro is used there.  The other options would be nice.

    I've voted 3 votes on the feature quite a while back, and as stated, it's #3 on the request site.  Just suprised request not actioned yet.

    We will look to implement this functionality after 8.200, tentatively slated as 8.300.
