recurring automatic shut down

I am running version 8.003 as a software appliance and the home user license.

Since now about a bit more then a month my astaro keeps on automatically shuting down in a 3-4 days cycle and this happens at 7pm in the morning.  [:(]

At the first occasion my thought was that the hardware is dying on me ( an older p4 box). So I went and replaced the hardware, and set-up a new box and configured it from scratch (no import of the old backup). [8-)]

Well, it still happens that the box is shutting down after 4 days [:@]

I have now disabled the auto up2date, no luck [:S]

The only "abormality" is that I "spoof" the WAN MAC so I get my fix ip address from the provider.

    Hello Bob,
    well, I change the WAN MAC from the original vendors mac to someting else (an old mac from an old firewall). I get my fix ip by DHCP from the provider based on that mac. Well I could just have the provider updated with the changed mac, but if I change hardware again it is easier that what.

    ps: if astaro would build in a feature for changing the mac as allready requestet from other sites, that would be great. But thats not the topic here.

    I can't remember any other instances of spontaneous shutdown over the last three years, so this must be your power or something unrelated to Astaro, but, I still don't understand how you're spoofing the MAC address.

    For people that don't have a fixed IP, the Astaro supports DynDNS.

    Have you looked through the log files for clues?  System, Kernel, fallback, middleware, configuration- those are where I would start.  Also, take a look at the hardware reporting, is the system chugging along normally when it shuts down, or is it under heavy load?

    @BAlfson, dyndns ist nice, but do run a smtp server and do make things work proper all the way I prefer a fix address (which I get for a specific mac address, which I am to lazy my self for having it updated by the isp if I chage hardware) and also have a proper reverse dns entry for my fix ip / dns name.

    I have replaced the hardware, the astaro is on a ups. So far I found nothing in the logs, but will continue checking.

    Finaly a result, it was the ups.

    Hi, if you haven't already, you should configure Astaro to email you system notifications, which would include messages about the UPS.
